Yesterday, I used keyword research to understand how to make a great homepage. As I researched what makes a great homepage I discovered that every Brand has a unique homepage reflecting their Brands values. From big companies like Google to small upstart companies like mine. A great homepage is a statement and portal into a Business’s Goals.

Even though I am only beginning, I need a great homepage that represents my Brand Lilacflows. I have a problem to solve and I need your help. If you send me your email I will share my writing right to your inbox.

I don’t have a clear statement describing my brand yet. I started Lilacflows in 2018 incorporating it as a for profit corporation without clear goals on how to proceed. As an artist I like to jump into projects with minimum planning because it is exciting to start new things. For example, I will buy canvasses without a plan on what I want to paint. On the other hand sometimes people ask me to make paintings for them and I am utterly drained by the prospect. Even though I have done that with success in the past I have not taken on any commissions in a few years. The enormity of making a creative work for someone else is daunting. Making it for myself is a little less difficult.

And I am doing it all from a wheelchair which I hate.

Company Goal is to create a high ranking unique WP website that sells original art by Lisa Figge and showcase Lisa’s Writing. In order to meet this goal the website will be optimized to create awareness of the Brand. Awareness of a brand is the first stage in a marketing funnel. It takes six times for someone to begin to consider subscribing to a brand. Consideration is the second stage of the marketing funnel.

When someone subscribes they are in the conversion stage, or stage 3 of the marketing funnel because they have acted. The longer term goal is to have customers. Loyal customers. Loyalty is the fourth stage of the marketing funnel. Loyal customers can also become advocates of a Brand. Now the business goal of Lilacflows needs to be measurable and specific. For example how many subscribers and in what timespan.

That’s all for this section for now. I will continue to work on my homepage. Website Planet teaches homepage best practices—a blog.

He recommends A CTA (call to action) above the fold. Signing up for mail to your E-mail would give me permission to send you my writing via the webpage or a newsletter that I design for you. So please sign-up.

I have learned how to add a sign up form to the top of my home page. A sign up box is a call to action. Website Planet also says a call to action should be visible on all pages. I have inserted a sign up button at regular intervals on my homepage so as you read you can easily see the button.

Now I will go see how this works on my mobile.

I do not like how hard this is. But let me bask in my small success.
